ABSTRACT
Presbyopia is physiological process in which due to aging of the eye there is a loss of accommodation that results in worsening of clear vision over close objects. This condition can be treated with glasses, contact lenses, laser refractive surgery or refractive lens extraction. Latter treatment option comprises of implantation of multifocal and extended depth of focus lenses. Extended depth of focus lenses in contrast to multifocal lenses (produce multi plefocal points) create single elongated focal point which in turn aids to reduce most common photic effects. Aim of this article is to explain the difference between multifocal and extended depth of focus lenses as well as differentiate types of extended depth of focus lenses lenses available on the Polish market.
